Lake Glendo State Park:

Good fishing is what you will find at Glendo State Park. Fishermen come from all over for a chance for a trophy size walleye, perch, or trout. The 10,000 acre Glendo State Park has one of the largest reservoirs on the North Platte River, with almost 80 miles of shoreline. There is a 167 foot high earth dam that backs up water for 14 miles.

Sandy Beach with it's warm water provides swimmers with a relaxing retreat on a hot summer afternoon. Cliff divers enjoy the challenge of Red Cliffs. Many anglers say they caught their largest walleye ever at Muddy Bay.

The town of Glendo is located a few miles from the reservoir. You'll be able to buy your fireworks from Howard's General Store and Motel in Glendo. If you want a great steak you'll to need to visit Rooster's Old Western Saloon. This rustic old-time bar and restaurant reminds you of years gone by when pioneers roamed the countryside.

You can rent seadoos and fishing boats from Glendo Marina, and buy supplies that you need for great fishing. Glendo Marina is located on the lake front.

If you want to pick a great week-end to visit, I'd try Memorial weekend. The entire town is putting on Glendo's "Weekend at Bernie's" Hot Air Balloon Rally. There will be a craft fair, flea market, games, night glow, street dance, and lots of food.

There are seven state park campgrounds ($4 per night to camp plus park entrance fee $2.00 for residents, and $3.00 for non residents ) on the east end of Glendo Reservoir. You'll need to get permits from the park headquarters.

E-mail us for the dates and information about the Walleye tournaments that are held throughout the summer. They attract many anglers.

The surrounding landscape is mostly flat and is visually breathtaking with the panorama of blue skies. The nights are dazzling with the zillions of stars you can see once you are away from the big city lights. These wide open spaces will give you a feeling of peace and tranquility.

This fishing hot spot is located just 30 minutes from Wheatland and 20 minutes from Douglas, Wyoming via Interstate I-25.
